Artificial blood for pet animals (dogs and cats) are also developed. We succeeded in producing recombinant canine serum albumin (rCSA) and feline serum albumin (rFSA) for the first time. We have created protein crystals in the microgravity environment of the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" on the International Space Station and clarified their three-dimensional structures by X-ray crystallography (JAXA). We have also developed artificial plasma for pets (product name: Aloxa) by binding synthetic polymers to porcine serum albumin. It is attracting attention from all over the world as a great contribution to veterinary medicine.
