Artificial BloodKünstliches Blut

We have developed artificial oxygen carriers by combining human serum albumin and synthetic polymers with hemoglobin (product names: HemoAct, HbNP, Hemoxa, etc.). These formulations have no blood type and can be powdered by freeze-drying. Currently, we are evaluating their safety and efficacy in a joint team with the medical and pharmaceutical scientists. It has been proved to be effective as a resuscitation fluid for hemorrhagic shock (Saitama Medical University) and a therapeutic agent for cerebral infarction (Hokkaido University). An entirely synthetic artificial oxygen carrier can also be produced by using recombinant hemoglobin. We are developing various artificial blood products using hemoglobin whose structure and function are modulated.
