Artificial BloodKünstliches Blut
We have developed an artificial oxygen carrier (hemoglobin-albumin)cluster (formulation name: HemoAct) in which hemoglobin is wrapped covalently with human serum albumin (plasma protein). It has no blood group and can be powdered by freeze-drying. Currently, we are evaluating the safety and efficacy in a joint team with the medical scientists. It has been proved to be effective as a resuscitation fluid for hemorrhagic shock (Tokai University) and a therapeutic agent for cerebral infarction (Hokkaido University). An entirely synthetic artificial oxygen carrier can also be produced by using recombinant hemoglobin. We are developing various artificial bloods using hemoglobin whose structure and function are modulated.
